The map represents areas of geekdom- based on lines and intersection of interest. Each word repesents some area of geek obsession, the lines representing the relationship between each, whether they be a medium, a genre, or an object. At some time in the future I will draw up lines of interest rather than connection, but for now I find this to be a decent representation of geekdom's geography.
The map is color-coded as follows:|
Mediums are red Genres are blue Objects are yellow |
Green lines indicate interdependency Blue lines are subdivisions Purple indicates influence |
A medium is a method of communicating with people; a way of passing on information. A genre is a category of something; a way of organizing information. An object is something specific within one of the above two; an item with its own characteristics.
Interdepency means that the two influence each other greatly and generally need each other to progress. A subdivision is merely a smaller unit within each category. Influence means that one item passes on traits to another and shapes it in some way.
